Netanyahu back for Israel’s top job, PM congratulates Bibi

Benjamin Netanyahu wins general elections in Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid announced his resignation as leader of the country’s government on Thursday, conceding that his party had lost the general election, and he congratulated opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, whose coalition of right-wing parties had won a comfortable majority in the legislature to form the nation’s next government and end the current political impasse.

Indian prime Minister congratulated Netanyahu on his win, he tweeted,
“Mazel Tov my friend @netanyahu for your electoral success. I look forward to continuing our joint efforts to deepen the India-Israel strategic partnership.”

Mr. Modi also thanked Yair Lapid for prioritisingthe India-Israel strategicpartnershipp.

The Netanyahu-led right-wing alliance has a commanding lead with 64 seats in the 120-member Knesset after 99 percent of the votes have been tabulated, opening the door for his victorious return to power.
