Centre fined Rs.1.5 crore for MLA Yatnal’s factory: Minister Khandre

Kalaburagi: A year and a half ago, the Union Ministry of Environment imposed a fine of Rs.1.5 crore on the sugar and ethanol factory of BJP MLA Basan Gowda Patil Yatnal in Chincholi of the district. State Forest and Environment Minister Ishwara Khandre criticized that even after paying it, the necessary permission was not obtained.

Speaking to reporters at the city’s airport on Saturday, he said that a week ago, he had asked the Pollution Control Board to submit a report on water and air polluting factories in the progress review meeting.

Accordingly, various factories in the state have been issued legal notices for violating the Act. Of which Yatnal has not given separately to the factory belonging to him. There is no politics in this. He criticized Yatnal’s statement that the Congress government was playing politics as ridiculous.

Lakhs of tonnes of sugarcane have been crushed and boilers have been installed without obtaining a licence. He said that the notice had been issued as per the rules.

The factory should be closed after the notice. Otherwise, he warned that a criminal case would be registered.
