Media One news channel has received the highest number of viewers among all other Malayalam channels, despite facing a ban by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
Media One, which was banned after the Union Ministry of Home Affairs refused to give clearance to the channel, has been trending on social media.
The statistical data of Media One for one month shows that it has got a viewership of nearly 30.77 million, while other channels, including Manorama News, have received only 22.27 million views, followed by Asianet News – 21.83 million and Twenty Four (24) with about 17.31 million views.
The ministry of I&B had suspended the broadcast of the Malayalam news channel on January 31, two days after the Union home ministry denied it security clearance.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday said it will hear a plea challenging the Centre’s decision to not renew the broadcasting license of Media One due to “security reasons” on March 10.
