BBMP’s bed scam turns into controversy, MLA Satish reddy accused of blocking beds for his supporters

The alleged COVID bed-blocking scam and the dismissal of 17 staff members from the same community in the BBMP South zone’s war room have turned into controversy. On Tuesday, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya had held a press conference with other MLAs and made serious allegations against some corporation officials and the Muslim contract workers hired by the BBMP. Satish Reddy, Bommanahalli’s MLA, who participated in the press meet, has now been accused of allotting beds to his supporters and agents in the same case.

Reportedly, MLA Satish Reddy and his supporters threatened the war room employees working in the South zone and provided beds for the Covid-19 patients illegally. It is alleged that Satish Reddy had issued direct threats to the war room in charge, saying that his supporters must be given importance over others, or he would bring in his supporters and demonstrate in front of the war room.

Amid allegations that beds were allotted to patients recommended by Satish Reddy, another accusation has come out that the beds were also being sold for a fixed amount of money to agitated patients.

The police had already arrested certain people after the press conference on the bed-blocking scandal, where allegations were made by MP Tejasvi Surya, MLA Satish Reddy, Ravi Subramanya, and Uday Garudachaar on Tuesday. Now, Satish Reddy’s name has also come to the limelight of this case and giving a new turn to the case.

Meanwhile, MLA Satish Reddy has denied all the allegations and said, “The accusation that my supporters were blocking beds inside the war room has no substance to it. Whoever called my office requesting help for bed after they did not get a response from the helpline, in such case I have requested that beds be given to them on a preferential basis. But the allegation that I was blocking beds is a lie”, he added.
