India Records Over 90,000 Fresh Covid Cases In 24 Hours

India recorded a massive surge in the daily tally of Covid-19 cases, with 90,928 new cases registered on Thursday from 58,097 cases yesterday, in a span of 24 hours.

According to Union Health Ministry on Thursday, nearly 325 people succumbed to Covid-19 in the last one day.

At present, the active caseload of the country stands at 2,85,401 cases, accounting for less than 1% of the total cases.

In the last 24 hours, around 19,206 people have been recovered so far. The recovery rate in India stands at 97.81%, according to the Union Health Ministry.

India has 2,630 cases of the Omicron variant, with most cases reported from Maharashtra 797 cases, followed by Delhi 465 cases. 995 people have already recovered so far.

In the last 24 hours, India has also administered 9.1 million vaccine doses, with total 146.67 crore doses inoculated so far.

According to data, the average daily rise of Covid-19 this year is almost 21 per cent faster than during the second wave in March-April, last year. A seven-day moving average showed that the cases have increased from 56 to 199.
