Citizens above the age of 18 can now register themselves for vaccination jabs against Covid using the CoWIN portal or Aarogya Setu app, starting at 4 PM today. The government prepares to launch the third phase of the vaccination drive from May 1, so you can start registering in the afternoon.
The government will continue to vaccinate those declared eligible so far – frontline workers, health workers, and those above 45.
Currently, two Covid vaccines are being administered in India: the Covishield developed by the Oxford-AstraZeneca and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India. The Covaxin developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech and Sputnik V, which was developed in Russia, is imported and sold in India by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories also been approved by the Indian drug regulator.
Covid-19’s second wave has hit India hardly with a significant rise in COVID cases, surpassing even the worst phase of last year.
Here is how users can register themselves for the vaccine jab using the CoWIN platform and the Aarogya Setu app.
How to register for Covid-19 vaccination through CoWIN portal:
- Log on to www.cowin.gov.in. And hit on Register/Sign in yourself.
- Enter your mobile number and click on Get OTP. After receiving the OTP, enter OTP on the site, and click on ‘Verify’.
- Enter your details, including photo ID proof, name, gender, and year of birth on the ‘Register for Vaccination’ page. Once this is done, click Register.
- After you register, you will get an option to schedule an appointment. Click on ‘Schedule’ next to the registered person’s name.
- Enter your pin code and click on Search. The centres in the attached pin code will appear.
- Select the date and time and hit ‘Confirm.’
Note: Users can add up to four members through one login and can quickly reschedule an appointment.
How to Register for Covid-19 vaccination through the Aarogya Setu app
- Open the Aarogya Setu app and go to the ‘CoWIN’ tab on the home screen.
- Select ‘Vaccination Registration’ and then add your phone number. You will receive an OTP and then begin to verify yourself.
- On the ‘Register for Vaccination’ page, add all your details, including photo ID proof, name, gender, and year of birth. Hit on ‘Register.’
- After you register, you will get the option to schedule an appointment. Click on Schedule next to the registered person’s name.
- Enter your pin code and click on Search. The centres in the attached pin code will appear.
- Select the date and time and click on ‘Confirm.’
-Once registered successfully, you will receive an SMS with the appointment details.
