Dalit boy attacked for touching God’s staff

The village is threatened with a boycott if Rs 60,000 is not paid

A 14-year-old Dalit boy was beaten up for touching the festival idol during the festival of God. The incident took place in Ullera village of Kolar district, Karnataka where a fine of Rs 60000 was imposed on the family and they have been threatened with expulsion from the village if the money is not paid.
When the God’s staff carrying the deity fell down during the idol festival of Deity, Chetana, the boy from Dalit family of the village, immediately picked it up and handed it over.
