Eight killed as tempo gorge falls into gorge on Rishikesh-Badrinath NH

The incident took place near the Alakananda river. According to sources, local administration and the SDRF have been deployed in the area to conduct a rescue operation. The passengers were reportedly travelling from Delhi/Ghaziabad to Chopta Tungnath. Meanwhile, the bodies are shifted to nearby hospital for conducting an autopsy, the injured passengers have been taken to the nearest medical centre. The SDRF officials also added that the death toll is likely to go up as the ones, who are hospitalised are said to be in serious conditions.

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his condolences to the bereaved of the victims. He added that the District Magistrate would investigate the incident thoroughly. Taking to platform X (formerly known as Twitter), CM wrote, “People seriously injured in the Rudraprayag road accident are being airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh. Instructions have been given to the officials for better treatment of the injured. Our government is committed to provide all possible help to the injured.”

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah also condoled the incident. Taking to X, he wrote, “Received the sad news of the road accident in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. My condolences are with the families of those who lost their lives in this accident. The local administration and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue work and all possible help is being provided to the injured. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
