Ludhiana court blast: Man with links to bomb blast arrested in Germany

The German authorities on Tuesday have arrested Jaswinder Singh Multani, allegedly belonging to the Sikhs For Justice (SJF), which is an organization suspected to be behind the recent bomb blast in Punjab’s Ludhiana, PTI reported.

Highlighting Multani’s alleged role in planning terror attacks in India, intelligence inputs were shared with the authorities in Berlin and he was detained, the officials said.

Two FIRs have been registered against the Multani in Punjab. His detention comes five days after a bomb blast occurred at the Ludhiana court complex on December 23 that killed two people and injured several others.

Earlier this year, Multani’s name was brought up in connection with a plan to kill prominent farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal during the farmers’ protests on the outskirts of Delhi.

During the Ludhiana bomb blast probe, according to officials, the police recovered important evidence to show that the bomber was in touch with pro-Khalistani leaders in Pakistan and Gulf countries.

The intelligence agencies also found that Gangandeep Singh, a dismissed policeman who was allegedly planting the bomb, was in constant touch with Multani and that the latter was instrumental in arranging for the explosive material for the blast.

According to reports, chats on social media messenger indicated that more blasts like this were being planned by the group in Punjab and across the country.
