Raj Kundra released from Mumbai jail after getting bail In porn films case

Businessman Raj Kundra and his associate Ryan Thorpe walked out of a Mumbai jail on Tuesday a day after a magistrate court had granted bail to the key accused in a pornographic films case in which the duo were arrested two months ago.

On Monday, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SB Bhajipale granted bail to Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Kundra on furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000. He was under judicial custody lodged in Arthur Road Jail.

He was arrested by the Mumbai police’s crime branch after being booked under Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act sections of the IPC.

On Saturday, the 46-year-old businessman moved a bail plea before the metropolitan magistrate court, days after the police filed a supplementary charge sheet in the case.

Therefore, in his plea, Kundra claimed that there was no evidence of him being “actively” involved in the creation of alleged questionable porn content in the ‘Hotshots’ app.

Hotshots’ app was being used by accused persons for uploading and streaming obscene content, according to the investigation reports.

Alleging he was falsely implicated, Kundra said that he was not even named in the FIR, and was dragged by the respondent (police) in the case and claimed that he is made a “scapegoat” for reasons best known to investigators.

In a supplementary chargesheet, the police claimed that Raj Kundra was the “main facilitator” in the alleged porn case and he along with his other accused associates exploited young women struggling in the movie industry by filming them in obscene ways.

Besides Kundra and his associate, Yash Thakur, a resident of Singapore, and Pardeep Bakshi based in London have been shown as wanted accused in the charge-sheet.
