The women of Muslim family in Udupi’s Kapu were allegedly molested by the police on Friday morning.
Ashfaq, who runs a dairy farm with his brothers has alleged that uniformed police broke into their house this morning, assaulted women and even robbed them.
Talking to THG, Ashfaq’s brother Shaikh Abu said, “Police inspector Raghavendra S A, along with other police men, entered our homes today in civil dress around 8.30 in the morning and closed all the doors of the house. They molested our women, and also assaulted two women, including my old mother.”
The Muslim family has made serious allegations against the Kapu police, alleging that the women were dragged inside the house and have been brutally attacked. Their vehicle has also been seized by the police.
“Just because we eat meat, they keep entering our homes every now and torturing us, even at late night 2 am. When men aren’t home, then also the police come inside.”
Due to police brutality, one woman has been admitted at Ajjarkad government hospital, while the other in Hitech Medicare hospital in Udupi district, Karnataka.
“Police are meant to safeguard and protect us, instead they only come and assault us. How can this be? They are the ones who should help us, but are doing the opposite,” Abu said adding, that they’re going to file a complaint against the police.
