After several attempts, dedicated aspirant Qamaruddin Khan secures rank in UPSC

After making several attempts to clear UPSC, Md Qamaruddin Khan from Karnataka did not give up and stayed determined on his path to secure an All India Rank (AIR) of 414 in the UPSC Civil Services, 2021 final result declared Monday.

Hailing from Bidar district of Karnataka, Khan has been working in the Indian railways and now wants to serve the nation by joining the Indian Revenue Service.

“During my school days, when I watched civil officers, I used to get so inspired by them. Inspired by the work they do and the respect they get. From then it’s my dream to actually pursue a career in this field. Thus, based on my rank I’m expecting to be placed in Revenue Services,” Khan spoke to The Hindustan Gazette about his inspiration to become a civil service officer.

The 31-year-old, who is currently working in Indian railways cleared his 2019 Civil Services exam and got into the Indian Railways Services. “I also got inspired during my training in railways services. At present, I am working in Delhi and I am under probation,” he said

In 2013, Qamaruddin Khan graduated from IIT Guwahati in civil engineering and since then has been attempting to clear the civils. This was his eight attempt, which he successfully cleared with a good rank.

“Actually the revenue department is undergoing a lot of changes. So, I would love to see and adapt and then try to give inputs right now I’m an outsider and this is a technical field related to taxation. I would give my best and improve the system,” he asserted.

In a message to every citizen of this country, especially the youth, Khan said, “We have to persevere and think we will be able to achieve it. Only then we can get what we want.”
