Congress in Kerala Calls for Investigation into Alleged NEET 2024 Result Irregularities

Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): The Congress in Kerala on Saturday demanded a thorough investigation into allegations of irregularities in the NEET 2024 results. The party raised concerns about the authenticity of the national medical entrance exam, with many students questioning the procedure.

In a letter to the Centre, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly V D Satheesan stated that numerous students from Kerala had expressed concerns about the NEET results. “I write to demand a comprehensive investigation into the suspicious results of the recently published NEET results for 2024,” Satheesan wrote to the union government’s secretaries of the Higher Education and Health and Family Welfare departments.

He highlighted the “extremely alarming” fact that 67 students received full marks, with eight coming from the same examination centre. “It should be noted that this figure was just two in 2023 and four in 2022. Furthermore, students received 719 and 718 marks out of 720, which is not theoretically achievable given the NEET exam format.”

Satheesan also pointed out that the results were announced 10 days before the proposed date, casting “considerable doubt” on the validity of the evaluation procedure. “The questionable results have added credence to the earlier-surfaced allegations regarding the NEET question paper leak. Any malpractice in NEET results will undermine the hopes and dreams of thousands of qualified students,” he warned.

He further argued that ineligible candidates would degrade the quality of the healthcare system in the long run, constituting a great injustice to future generations.
