Writers, pro-Kannada and pro-Basava organisations have protested against the textbook review committee across the state. Organisations alleged that Basavanna and Kuvempu were insulted in the new textbook revised under the leadership of Rohit Chakratheertha. The BJP-led government was criticised for using textbooks to communalise and spread its political ideology.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has now dissolved the textbook revision committee. The government has found a solution to the problem that has arisen across the state. The Chief Minister said that if there is any objectionable material about Basavanna in the text book, he is ready to examine and amend it and action will be taken against those who tampered with the Nadageethe, written by the eminent poet Kuvempu
