Amid the ongoing investigations led by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam, sources within the CBI on Saturday said that a journalist was arrested in connection with the case.
The CBI arrested the journalist from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. He has been identified as Jamaluddin. On the other hand, CBI have intensified its searches in seven prime locations including Godhra, Anand, Kheda, Gujarat and Ahmedabad. The CBI had made its first arrests on June 27 when the central agency arrested two individuals who were later identified as Manish Prakash and Ashutosh from Patna.
Sources said that Manish Prakash, with the help of Ashutosh, had allegedly accommodated candidates at a boys’ hostel which was associated with the Learn Play School in Bihar’s Patna on May 4. It was a day before the NEET exam where they were given leaked papers and answer keys, sources said.
On June 28, the CBI also made arrests and held the principal and vice principal of Oasis School in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh in connection with the paper leak case, officials added.
