Puducherry schools and colleges to start from July 16

Schools in the Puducherry will reopen from 16 July for students of Classes from IX to XII, after the Union territory witnessed a decline in the rate of Covid-19 infection.

All colleges in the UT will also reopen from July 16, Chief minister N Rangasamy announcement on Sunday.

The territory did not report a single Covid-19 death in a day after a span of over three months.

Puducherry registered 145 new Covid-19 cases and 213 patients recovered declining the total number of active cases to 1,505 on Sunday.

The territory has max active cases with 1,156 followed by (214), Mahe with 101 and Yanam with 34. Till now 5.85 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccines (including the second dose) have been administered.

As Covid-19 cases have started to decline and vaccination rates increase, many states have planned to reopen the educational institutions, while there are several states that are still don’t want to take the risk. However, wherever reopening of schools, it has been mandated that Covid-19 protocols are followed.
