The Minority Welfare Department of Karnataka, under the Directorate of Minorities, has launched the Fellowship program for the year 2023-24. This initiative aims to support eligible students from minority communities in their pursuit of Ph.D. or M.Phil. courses at Government Recognized Universities.
In today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, pursuing higher studies is a dream for many students, but financial constraints often stand as a significant barrier. The Minority Welfare Department of Karnataka has taken this initiative for minority students.
Eligibility Criteria for the Directorate of Minorities Scholarship for Ph.D or M.Phil Courses 2023:
- Karnataka Residency and Minority Community: Applicants must be residents of Karnataka and belong to minority communities, including Jains, Parsis, Buddhists, Sikhs, Christians, and Muslims.
- Full-Time Enrollment: Eligible candidates should be enrolled in full-time courses.
- Income Limit: The annual income of the student’s parents or guardians should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh.
- Research Pursuit in Other States: Students with Karnataka domicile pursuing their research in other states are also eligible to apply.
- Age Limit: The upper age limit for applicants is 35 years.
- Government Employment: Candidates currently employed in state or central government positions are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Recognized Universities: Applicants must be pursuing their M.Phil or Ph.D. studies from recognized universities.

*Online Application: Applicants are required to apply online through the official portal
*Submission of Hard Copy: Along with the online application, candidates need to submit a hard copy of their application along with the required documents to the concerned District Minority Office in the district where their university or college is located.
