SIO Secures Key Victory in NEET-UG 2024 Dispute

The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) achieved a significant legal victory as the Supreme Court addressed the NEET-UG 2024 grace marks controversy. The case, brought forward by petitioner Abdullah Mohammad Faiz on behalf of the SIO, challenged the decision to award grace marks to 1,563 candidates due to discrepancies during the exam. The choice of re-exam has also been given to the 1,563 students, which will likely be conducted on June 23rd.
“Considering the discrepancies, I filed a PIL in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Students Islamic Organisation of India. Today, the PIL was taken up,” said Faiz, National secretary of SIO.

In response, the Centre informed the SC that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has retracted its decision to grant grace marks. Instead, the candidates who faced time lapse issues will have their original marks reinstated and will be given the option to retake the exam.

This ruling underscores SIO’s commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent examination process, providing relief and justice to lakhs of affected students nationwide
