UGC-NET Cancelled: NSUI Members Detained During Protest Outside Education Minister’s House

New Delhi (PTI): Several members of the Congress-affiliated NSUI were detained on Thursday while protesting outside Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s residence against the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination.

The Union Education Ministry ordered the cancellation late Wednesday night after receiving inputs indicating that the exam’s integrity had been compromised.

Members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), led by its national president Varun Choudhary, gathered outside Pradhan’s residence, demanding a ban on the National Testing Agency (NTA) and a thorough investigation into the alleged paper leaks.

The student leaders raised slogans against the perceived corruption within the NTA and criticized the education minister’s inaction.

In a symbolic gesture highlighting corruption, Choudhary flung a bag filled with counterfeit currency into the air and called for an urgent probe into the matter. The protesters also demanded an investigation into the irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
