The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case.
After the Enforcement Directorate (ED), it is now the CBI that arrested Kejriwal. The probe agency presented the Delhi CM in Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi said that it was planning to arrest Kejriwal long back but it refrained because of the recently wrapped up Lok Sabha elections. The CBI examined the AAP chief in Tihar Jail on Tuesday and recorded his statement connected to the Excise Policy case.
Meanwhile, the Delhi CM withdrew his plea from the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order that had granted an interim stay on the trial court’s bail order.
Centre is using CBI to frame the Delhi CM
Several opposition party leaders came forward and alleged that it was a well planned move by the Centre. Samajwadi party leader, Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday blamed the Centre for discriminating the most against the Delhi government and that it the Centre that is by purpose using the CBI to frame Kejriwal in a case to stall the functioning of the AAP dispensation. Yadav spoke to the reporters in Delhi after paying a visit to Delhi Water Minister Atishi at the LNJP Hospital. He alleged that the problems for chief ministers have increased since the saffron party came to power at the Centre.
