Eknath Shinde to be Maharashtra CM, Fadnavis as Dept. CM, Swearing-in today

Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde will be the next Maharashtra Chief Minister, who will take his oath as CM in the swearing-in ceremony that will take place today at 7:30 pm. BJP leader and former Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis to be the Deputy chief minister of the state.

Devendra Fadnavis after meeting Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari along with Shinde, announced in a press conference at Raj Bhavan, the CM face of Maharashtra and that the cabinet will be expanded later.

The most likely CM face was predicted to be Fadnavis but BJP in a surprising move has named Eknath Shinde as the next CM of Maharashtra.

After a drama that ensued for more than a week which started with Eknath Shinde rebelling against Shiv Sena and leading close to forty MLAs with him to discontinue their support for the party. The governor of the Maharashtra state had asked for a floor test to prove the Shiv Sena majority. Which ensued a court battle.

And shortly after the Supreme Court ordered the Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government to take the floor test to prove its majority in the Assembly on Thursday, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray left with only 15 MLAs owing to rebel leader Eknath Shinde, announced his decision to resign as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Wednesday.
