The rent for the Unnao rape victim’s house in Delhi has not been paid for the past three months. The CRPF jawans deployed for her security are also not being paid for the room they occupy. The Delhi High Court had ordered the Delhi Women’s Commission to pay the rent for both rooms, which is then reimbursed by the Delhi Women and Child Development Department, and ultimately by the Uttar Pradesh government.
The victim told that the rent for both rooms is Rs 11,000 each, which has been pending for three months. She has somehow managed to pay the electricity bill herself. She is living in Delhi, pursuing her studies, and also learning tailoring. Her husband’s income is also limited, due to which she is unable to pay the rent for both rooms.
She alleged that former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the rape case, is trying to harass her to get bail. He has conspired to stop the payment of her house rent so that she is forced to leave Delhi, making it easier for him to get bail. The victim said that she did not face any problems when Swati Maliwal was the chairperson of the Delhi Women’s Commission, but after she left, the rent payment was stopped.”
