Warner – Marsh’s Twin Tons Helped Australia to Win against Pakistan

Mitch Marsh and David Warner’s twin hundreds have taken Australia to a 62 runs victory as they have faced Pakistan on Friday in M. Chinnaswamy Stadium of Bengaluru for the 18th match of ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, 2023.

Winning the toss, Pakistan Captain Babar Azam has put Australia to bat. David Warner (163 of 124 balls) along with Mitch Marsh (121 of 108 balls) have taken Australia to a formidable 367 for 9 in their 50 overs. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has taken 5 wickets as he was, by far. the best bowler for Pakistan in this match.

In reply, Abdullah Shafique (64 of 61 balls), Imam-ul-Haq (70 of 71 balls), Mohammad Rizwan (46 of 40 balls) had tried to fight but Pakistan crumbled under pressure as they have bundled out for a 305 all out in 45.3 overs. Leg Spinner Adam Zampa picked up 4 wickets as he was the pick of the Aussie bowlers. Pat Cummins and Marcus Stoinis had picked up two wickets each. Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc had also got a wicket each.

David Warner was awarded the player of the match award. In post- match presentations, he has said, “For us to go out there and put a performance like that is very pleasing. Committing and backing my skills, I had a good hit yesterday, it was ticking along, I was just one bit of luck away and it helps when you’re hitting the ball out of the middle. Playing on a ground like this as well, you got to take those chances. Just to get out there and build a partnership with Mitch today. We spoke about trying to bat till 35 overs at least and then probably score heavily in the back end. From our perspective, there’s a little bit of tinkering there we got to work on, we lost 5 or 6 wickets in the last 10. Every run is valuable, part of my DNA is to run hard between wickets, I have always done that and I’ll always continue to keep doing that as long as I keep playing.”
This win has taken Australia to the 4th spot in the points table of this World Cup.
