‘It was an honor to represent my country’: Vir Das after missing out on International Emmys

Stand-up Comedian Vir Das said he said that he felt honoured to have represented India at the 2021 International Emmy Awards. He congratulated Call My Agent on Twitter for winning the Best Comedy trophy and shared a photo of his nominee medal and certificate that he received.

The stand-up comedian, whose Vir Das’ Netflix comedy special was nominated for the Best Comedy, wasn’t disappointed after he lost the trophy to Call My Agent. Vir Das was in New York to attend the 49th edition of the International Emmy Awards.

Taking it to Twitter, Vir Das wrote, “I was nominated for best comedy at the International Emmy Awards, for jokes. Call My Agent, a beautiful show I love won. But I got this medal and ate this fantastic salad. It was an honour to represent my country. Thanks so much to the @iemmys.”

This year, India failed to bag any trophies at the International Emmys. While Nawazuddin Siddiqui was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Serious Men, he lost out to Scottish actor David Tennant, who won for Des. There was also a no-win for Sushmita Sen-starrer Aarya which was nominated for Best Drama and the award was won by Tehran.

Taking it to Instagram, Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui wrote, “#SeriousMen was a dream project for many reasons and one of them was working with the great director Sudhir Mishra. It’s an honour to be nominated for the prestigious Emmys. I still cannot forget my last experience here. I’m overjoyed as this is my second time at the Emmys and that too with a Netflix title”.
