Calcutta: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale occurred in neighboring Bangladesh on Saturday morning. Tremors were also felt in different parts of West Bengal.
The National Seismological Centre reported on social media X that the earthquake occurred at 9.05 am at a depth of 55km in South-East Bangladesh.
The West Bengal Disaster Management Department said that no damage has occurred in any part of the country at present.
“We are still waiting for the final report. According to the current information, no damage has been reported due to the earthquake”, an official told PTI.
Calcutta Police and Corporation officials also said that no loss of life or property was reported.
