The 69th National Film Awards was held at the Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi with President Droupadi Murmu conferring the awards. Among bollywood, it was Kriti Sanon and Alia Bhatt who shared the prestigious award for the Best Actress. Alia Bhatt had already gained much higher degree of respect from the critics as well as the public for her commendable performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Same was with Kriti Sanon who outshone herself in Mimi.
Apart from these actresses, R Madhavan’s film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect has won the Best Feature Film this year while Allu Arjun is the first Telugu actor to receive a Best Actor award. He has won the award for his performance in the film Pushpa: The Rise. The Kashmir Files won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration at the 69th National Film Awards while Shoojit Sircar’s historical drama Sardar Udham also won several awards. Apart from being named the Best Hindi Film, it also bagged Best Cinematography (Avik Mukhopadhyay), Best Audiography (Sinoy Joseph), Best Production Design (Dmitrii Malich and Mansi Dhruv Mehta) and Best Costume Design (Veera Kapur Ee) awards.
Singer Shreya Ghoshal also received the Best Female Playback Singer award at the 69th National Film Awards for the song ‘Mayava Chayava’ from the tamil film ‘Iravin Nizhal’. Legendary Actress, Waheeda Rahman was awarded with the Dasaheb Phalke award by the President. She got emotions while accepting her award.
The winners names were announced much earlier in the month of September while the ceremony took place on October. The awards were presented by the President of the country, Draupadi Murmu and the felicitation also witnessed the presence of Information Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur.
