AIMPLB urges Muslim scholars to avoid participating in TV debates

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) appealed to Muslim scholars to not participate in television debates that mock Islam and Muslims as their “intention is not to reach any conclusion through constructive discourse”, in a joint statement released by the President, Vice-President and General Secretary of AIMPLB on 10th June 2022.
The statement read “Muslim scholars (Ulema) and intellectuals to not participate in those television debates whose sole intention is to make a mockery and insult Islam and Muslims”.
The Ulema and intellectuals deem participation in TV debates, a service to Islam and Muslims but the AIMPLB differs and said that these scholars become a direct reason for the insult to Islam and Muslims by their participation in TV debates.

The statement read “The intention of these programs is not to reach any conclusion through constructive discourse but to ridicule and defame Islam and Muslims”

AIMPLB also highlighted in their statement that the news channels need Muslim faces to gain some legitimacy. “Due to their obliviousness, our Islamic scholars (Ulema) and intellectuals become victims of such agendas”.

The statement read that boycotting such programs and channels will lead to bringing their TRP down and also these TV news channels will fail to achieve desired outcomes in the debates.
