Amidst the ongoing Cash-for-query case, Mahua Moitra gets a new position in the Trinamool Congress

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra was appointed on Monday as the district president of West Bengal’s Krishnanagar (Nadia North) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections that are going to take place in 2024.

The TMC leader took to her social median handle,X (formerly known as Twitter) to thank West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee for her appointment.

Moitra’s appointment as the district president of Krishnanagar arose after the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee recommended her disqualification from the House because of her ongoing probe into the cash-for-query allegations against her. It was alleged that Moitra had shared her parliamentary login credentials to her friend in return of some personal gifts from business tycoon, Hiranandani.

The TMC leader denied all the allegations against her, and said that these were done on a biased basis. She claimed that the allegations were “defamatory, false, baseless, and not supported by even a shred of evidence”.

While the committee was headed by Chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar who had submitted its report on the allegations against Moitra to Speaker Om Birla’s office last Friday.

A few years prior to this, Moitra had remained the district President in Krishnanagar but was removed as the prior restructure. Now as the Lok Sabha elections are not too far away, she has been again put into the post of the district president of Krishnanagar (Nadia North) organisational district.
