BAGALKOT; 11 Nov: An incident which could cause embarrassment to the BJP MLA Siddu Savadi as he is accused of manhandling woman Taluk Panchayat member of his own party during the election for the post of president and vice president of Mahalingapur Town Municipal Council on Wednesday.
In the video which has gone viral on social media, Savadi is seen dragging the woman member outside the TMC office.
The incident which took place on Monday, however the video has gone viral on Wednesday.
According to sources, the incident happened when Savadi was allegedly trying to prevent his own party’s Council members from participating in the election.
It is said that three BJP members, Savita Hurakadli, Chandani Nayak and Godavari Baat had expressed desire to contest for the post of president and vice president of Mahalingapur TMC.
But the party refused to acknowledge their request and chose another candidate over them.
Dejected with the party’s response, members later identified themselves with the Congress. After which, Savita Hurakadli decided to contest for the post of President with the support of the Congress while Godavari Baat filed her nomination papers for vice president post as she too was supported by the Congress.
This move reportedly piqued MLA, Savadi who reportedly decided to prevent them from participating in the polls and tried to stop them from entering the office.
During this, the MLA allegedly manhandled and dragged the women, the video of which later went viral.
The women who were shocked with the sudden move, turned emotional.
Responding after the video going viral and facing ire from different quarters, the MLA has refuted allegations of dragging the woman. On the contrary, he said that he was in fact trying to save the women from other party members who were upset with the women for changing their loyalty.
Meanwhile, in an audio release, Superintendent of Police Lokesh Jagalasar said that though nobody has filed any complaint against any of the incident, however the police have taken suo moto contingence with Mahalingapur police station registering the case.
“ The inquiry is underway, suitable action would be taken based on the inquiry”, he said.Attachments area
