Bombay High Court has cancelled the Look Out Circulars (LOC) issued by CBI against actress Rhea Chakraborty

The Bombay High Court on Thursday quashed the Look Out Circulars (LoC) issued by the CBI against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and her father in connection with the investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and her father Indrajit had filed the application challenging the LOC issued against them by the CBI in 2020. The petition was heard by a division bench of High Court Justices Revathi Mohite Dere and Manjusha Deshpande and quashed the LoC.

Sriram Shirsat, counsel for the CBI, said, “The LoC cancellation order should be stayed for four weeks. This will allow the CBI to file an appeal in the Supreme Court,” he pleaded before the bench. However, the bench refused to keep its order.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Bandra, Mumbai on 14 June 2020. Mumbai Police had registered a case and started an investigation. Meanwhile, Sushant’s father filed a complaint with the Bihar Police in July 2020. In their complaint, Sushant’s friend Rhea Chakraborty and her family had accused Sushant of ‘inciting suicide’.

Later, the case was transferred to CBI. The CBI, which started the investigation, had in August 2020 issued an LOC against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother, and her father.

Also, in 2020, both Rhea and Showik were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drug case related to Rajput. Later he was granted bail.

In September 2023, the High Court temporarily suspended the LoC, allowing Showik to travel abroad. Now, the LoC has been scrapped.
