New Delhi: In a major loss to Indian politics, Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and former Rajya Sabha MP, passed away today at the age of 72. He had been receiving treatment for an acute respiratory tract infection at AIIMS in Delhi.
Yechury was admitted to the Emergency Ward on August 19 and later moved to the intensive care unit. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Indian left-wing politics. Party members and leaders across the political spectrum are mourning his loss.
