District Police launches 26 motorcycles for safety of women

The progamme under Nirbhaya Funds has been launched to given
sense of security to women, says SP, Agrawal

BIJAPUR; 04 Dec: For giving more sense of security among women
of the district, the District Police has launched 26 motorcycle-
mounted police squad under Central Government’s ‘Nirbhaya
Scheme’ on Monday.
Having launched the motorcycle security squad by the district
police, is aimed at protecting women from eve teachers and
offenders, the police would also be dealing with other criminals and
law breakers.
Flagging off the motorcycles, Superintendent of Police, Anupam
Agrawal said that in order to prevent atrocities on women and make
them a great sense of security and safety, the government has
launched the scheme.
Stating that the motorcycle riding police would be working round
the clock in the district to keep a vigil over the offenders, he said
that the police can come to the rescue of the people in need
immediately.
Since motorcycles can easily reach even the narrow lanes easily, it
will help the police to reach the spot in a quicker manner to help the
victims. Motorcycles would be given to different police stations of
the district.
It may be noted that the previous UPA government lunched
‘Nirbhaya Fund’ scheme after the gruesome case of rape and murder
of girl took place in Delhi on the night of the December 16 , 2012

where medical students was gang raped by a few men. Though the
girl died even after taken to Singapore for higher treatment, the
nation witnessed huge outrage after the incident.
Following which, the then central government announced the
establishment of Nirbhaya Fund for taking up several measures
across the country for providing safety to women.
