Flight to UK to resume from Jan 8

New Delhi: The flight operations between India and Britain will resume again from January 8.

Taking to twitter, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday said that it has been decided that the flights between India and UK will resume from January 8, but, till January 23 the operations will be restricted to 15 flights per week, to and from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports only.

He further said that the details will be issued regarding the same by the DGCA.

‘It has been decided that flights between India & UK will resume from 8 Jan 2021. Operations till 23 Jan will be restricted to 15 flights per week each for carriers of the two countries to & from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & Hyderabad only. DGCA India will issue the details shortly.’ Puri tweeted.

A total of 30 flights will operate in a week till January 23, out of which 15 will be operated by India air carriers and 15 by the companies of Britain.

Mr Puri informed that additional health related precautions will be taken in these flights, about which the Directorate General of Civil Aviation will soon issue guidelines.

After the rapid spread of the new strain of Corona virus in the UK, the government had banned flights from Britain beginning 2359 hours on December 22.

Initially the ban was upto December 31, which was later extended till January 7.
