BAGALKOT; 13 Nov: Deputy Chief Minister, Govind Karjol has informed that a total of 12093 houses have been damaged in recent floods and torrential rains in the district.
Addressing media persons on Friday, he said that under category ‘A’, 577 houses were damaged, under category ‘B’, 2719, and under category ‘C’, some 8797 houses have damaged.
“ Already the government has granted Rs. 154 crore to the affected persons”, he said.
Mentioning about the crop loss, Karjol said that the crop sown on a total of 112525 hectare land has been damaged. In order to provide relief to the farmers, Rs. 7.21 crore has been deposited into the accounts of 89829 farmers of the district.
Some 128 klm road coming under PWD, 309 klm road of State highway and 54 bridges, 29 drinking water projects of the district have been damaged. For the repair of roads and bridges, Rs. 25 crore has been granted by the government, Karjol said. Some 26 works have already started.
A total of 117 handlooms of five taluks of the district have suffered damage, the owners have been given Rs. 7 lakh relief amount.
Karjol admitted that the State has not received its revenue in the last 11 months because of which the development projects have taken a hit.
Claiming that Chief Minister, B. S. Yediyurappa has effectively handled Covid and flood situation of the State, Karjol said that while salaries of the employees in other States have stopped, BJP government is giving salary to the employees, he said.
Claiming that the Covid vaccine is expected to be available in January next year, the government is preparing to administer the vaccine to all the people of the State.
