If the problem is not resolved, Kashmir will be like Gaza: Farooq Abdullah warns

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah has warned that if India and Pakistan do not resolve the valley issue through dialogue, Kashmir will face the same problem as Gaza and Palestine shortly.

Speaking to reporters, Farooq Abdullah said, “If we do not find a solution through negotiations, we will have to face problems like Gaza and Palestine, which are being bombarded by Israel.”

On the same occasion, Farooq Abdullah expressed shock over the death of three civilians after five soldiers were killed by militants in Poonch district.

Farooq Abdullah quoted former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s words about Kashmir that we can change our friends, but not our neighbors.

“If we are to maintain a friendship with our neighbors, our dialogue must continue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that war is not our option and the dispute should be resolved through dialogue,” said Farooq.

Nawaz Sharif has said that he is going to be the Prime Minister and is ready to talk with India. But Farooq questioned why India is not ready for talks and reiterated that if we do not find a solution through talks, we will have to face problems like Gaza and Palestine which are being bombarded by Israel.

Meanwhile, Army chief Manoj Pandey visited Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri and Poonch districts on Monday and ordered local troops to demolish caves used as hideouts by terrorists. He also reviewed the security arrangements in the area.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit the Rajouri-Poonch sector on Wednesday and interact with soldiers on duty in the international border area.
