India-US move to list Pakistani terrorist at the UN blocked by China

A joint proposal by India and the United States of America in the United Nations to list Pakistan-based terrorist Abdul Rahman Makki as a ‘Global Terrorist’ was blocked by China at the last minute. The India-US proposal approached the UN to list Abdul Rahman Makki under the ISIS and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council, NDTV reported.

The joint proposal of India and US was to designate Makki as a global terrorist under the 1267 ISIS and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council.

In November 2010, the US Department of the Treasury had designated Makki as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. The US government has put a $2 Million reward for any information given regarding Makki. Abdul Rehman Makki is a US-designated terrorist and the brother-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief and 26/11 mastermind.

China on earlier occasions too, had placed holds or blocks on bids by India and it allies to list Pakistan based terrorists.
