Jyotiraditya Scindia, Civil aviation minister says, Uttar Pradesh will have five more airports

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Civil aviation minister said that there will be five new airports which will be inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh within one month. This addition will thereby take the total count of the airports in the state to 19.

He made this announcement on Thursday while speaking at the virtual function for the inauguration of flight service by IndiGo from Ayodhya to Ahmedabad.

“Ayodhya airport will be expanded and the runway will be extended which will allow the landing of bigger aircraft and the operation of international flights,” Scindia stated.

The Ayodhya airport named as the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport was inaugurated on December 30, 2023 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and on that very day, IndiGo and Air India Express operated their flights sevices to Ayodhya.

The airports at Aligarh, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Moradabad and Shravasti are among the new airports to be constructed in the state. Speaking about the Ayodhya airport, Scindia said that there is also a second phase of expansion which will start very soon.

He also added that more flights will be starting which will connect the city to the world. The consecration ceremony at the Ram temple is scheduled to be on January 22, 2024.
