Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mevani to join Congress today

Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani and former JNU leader Kanhaiya Kumar (CPI) will join Congress today in the presence of party leader Rahul Gandhi, according to reports by ANI.

As per reports, both the leaders will join Congress today evening at the party headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of Congress general secretary KC Venugopal and Gujarat Congress working president Hardik Patel, likely.

Jignesh Mevani is an independent MLA from the Gujarat’s Vadgam constituency. He belongs to a dalit community and is the chairman of Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch (RDAM). Kanhaiya Kumar is a former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Before joining the party, Mevani and Lumar are likely to go to Shaheedi Park at Delhi’s ITO to garland the statue of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, a day after his 114th birth anniversary.

Rahul Gandhi is also likely to be present with them at the Shaheedi park, along with youth Congress workers in “large numbers”.

There are speculation that the party could appoint Mevani in Gujarat and Kumar in Bihar state Congress, which is going for elections by the end of next year.
