BIJAPUR; 05 Mar: With the major political parties preparing for the next by-election in Sindgi taluk after the demise of JD(S) MLA, M.C. Managuli, all eyes are now on the sons of the late MLA on which party they will choose to contest.
Though no final decision has been taken by the family, rumors are that one of the sons who is possibly the next candidate for the polls, may not be contesting from JD(S), the party which was never left by their father till his last breath.
The speculations have taken wings after Ashok Managuli, one the sons of late MLA, reportedly met the Congress leading recently met Former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah.
The meeting was arranged by MLC, Prakash Rathod when Ashok expressed desire to meet the Congress leader.
It is said that the meeting which lasted for only a few minutes, Siddaramaiah assured to extend all possible help to him in the elections on the condition of him joining the Congress.
Admitting that their brother has met Siddaramaiah, Shantaveer Managuli however said that no decision has been taken so far to join any other political party as they are still with the JD(S).
“ My brother has met Siddaramaiah as a courtesy call. He only sought his support in the polls and nothing else”, he said.
Amid this, it is reported that Former MLA of Indi, Ravikant Patil who joined BJP a few years ago, has expressed desire to join the Congress for seeking ticket to contest from Sindgi.
He even met Former Minister, M. B. Patil, however it is not clear what transpired between both the leaders.
The BJP too is making efforts to field a suitable candidate for Sindgi. It may choose former MLA, Ramesh Bhusnur who has defeated Managuli in the past. Some reports are also suggesting that the BJP is luring the sons of Managuli to join BJP.
Amid this, it will not be a surprise if the sons of Managuli switch over to any other party by quitting the JD(S). Though their father had a long association with the JD(S), the sons do seem to be too keen to remain with the party.
