Linking Aadhar with voter card would stop bogus voting: Minister Jolle

She says MPs have written letter to ECI in this regard

BIJAPUR; 16 Dec: Opining that linking Aadhar number with election identity card could bring down the number of bogus voters substantially, Minister for Women and Child Development and District In-charge, Shashikala Jolle has said that several MPs have also brought the matter to the notice of Election Commission of India to take a note of it.

Addressing presspersons on Wednesday, she said that several reports are coming in where people are doing bogus voting which needs to be prevented.

“ We have been hearing allegations of people living in other States but having two voter cards. During the polling, they vote in different States and even in the same States with two different voting cards. Such frauds should be stopped, which is possible by linking Aadhar cards with voter cards”, she said.

On the speculations that she may be dropped from the Cabinet and she is trying hard to retain her position, Jolle rubbished the reports of the party making any attempt to remove her. “ Even I am not lobbying with anybody to retain the post. I am a party worker and will always abide by the instructions of the High Command”, she asserted.

Referring to the coming Gram Panchayat elections, Jolle urged the people to cooperate for smoother and fair elections. She also appealed to the voters of rural areas to vote in large number in the elections.

Defending her government, Jolle said that even amid several challenges including Covid pandemic and natural calamities, the government is doing good to provide better administration.

She said that already compensation has been given to the people affected from the recent floods.

MLC, Arun Shahapur, Former MLA, S. K. Bellubbi, District President, R. S. Patil Kochabal, leaders, Dayasagar Patil, Shivarudra Bagalkot, Ashok Allapur, Vijay Joshi and other leaders were present.
