London: For the very first time, the iconic Piccadilly Circus in London has been illuminated with lights reading “Happy Ramadan.”
The holy month of Ramadan has begun, and with it has arrived an abundance of happiness and new hopes all throughout the world. In the midst of all of this, the city of London has made history by being the first large metropolis in Europe to stage a stunning light display to honour the holy month of Ramadan.
“It’s a true symbol of how our capital celebrates our diversity,” said Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London. “It’s an honour to have you here.” Earlier, Khan was responsible for turning on the festive Ramadan lights that were set up in Piccadilly Circus in London.
There are 30,000 energy-efficient lights included in the Ramadan light display. During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims all around the world will celebrate by lighting up a famous street in London’s West End. Among them will be the mayor of London.
