Patanjali founders Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna, who have been embroiled in a Supreme Court case over misleading advertisements, encountered a significant setback in BJP-governed Uttarakhand, a state they have supported.
The State Licensing Authority (SLA) for Ayurvedic and Unani Services suspended manufacturing licenses for 14 Patanjali products due to persistent violations of drug regulations.
This action followed a court petition by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), prompting the SLA to act and cancel the licenses on April 15, 2024.
The affected products include Swasari Gold, Mukta Vati Extra Power, and others. Despite prior warnings and rejected apologies from Ramdev, the Supreme Court has maintained a stern stance.
In response to an apology published in newspapers, the court demanded proof of its size and authenticity. The case will proceed with a hearing scheduled for April 30, where both Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna are expected to appear.
