Modi government looting people despite falling crude oil prices: Mallikarjuna Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge has hit out at the Modi government for not reducing the prices of petrol and diesel despite falling global crude oil prices and looting the people of the country.

Kharge, who posted on X, said that even though global crude oil prices have fallen by 31% in the last 19 months, only the minister is saying that petrol and diesel prices will not be reduced.

“Crude oil prices continue to fall, but the Modi government is not only controlling looting. Modi cabinet ministers themselves say that there is no discussion with the oil companies about price reduction. “Oil companies are making a profit of Rs 8 to 10 per litre of petrol and Rs 3 to 4 per litre of diesel from the public,” said Mallikarjuna Kharge.

“The country is witnessing the lowest savings account of the public in the last 50 years. BJP’s ‘acche din’ false speeches are only being popularized in advertisements,” said Kharge.

Now there was a huge fluctuation in the price of crude oil in the international market and the news was spreading that the price of petrol and diesel in the country may also decrease.

But Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has clarified this and said that there is no possibility of reducing oil prices in the country for now.

In the past, oil marketing companies suffered huge losses when the price of crude oil rose sharply. Crude oil price fluctuates according to demand.

Some international phenomena also cause oil price fluctuation. Therefore, based on this calculation, the price of petrol and diesel cannot be reduced for a few days. As of now, there is a huge fluctuation in the oil market. Therefore, the oil marketing companies have not held any discussion regarding the reduction in oil prices, said Hardeep Singh Puri.
