My family has nurtured the democracy of this country with their blood: Priyanka Gandhi

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi slammed the BJP, saying that no one from the BJP gets disqualified for insulting her family. She said, “Such people are not disqualified from the Parliament, they are not sent to jail, and they are not stopped from contesting elections for years. They have insulted my family a lot of times, but we kept quiet: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.”

Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra referred to him as the “son of a martyr” and claimed that the BJP constantly made fun of him, not even sparing their Nehru-Gandhi family, as the Congress staged nationwide protests against his exclusion from the Lok Sabha today.

She further said, “You (BJP) talk about ‘Pariwarvaad’, I want to ask who was Lord Ram? Was he ‘Pariwarvaadi’, or were the Pandavas ‘Pariwarvaadi’ just because they fought for the culture of their family? Should we be ashamed because our family members fought for the people of the country? My family has nurtured the democracy of this country with their blood.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party’s general secretary, and Mr. Kharge, the head of the Congress, held a “satyagraha” outside Delhi’s Raj Ghat after the police refused their request to protest at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial.
