The incident took place in Delhi’s Sunder Nagari area where a Muslim man was beaten to death after he was tied to a pillar for allegedly consuming prasad in a temple. Several people have been arrested for allegedly killing a disabled Muslim man.
Mohammad Isar, a 26-year-old disabled person who died, was beaten by some people after eating prasad in the temple. As a result of the attack, Isar died after some time.
A video of the incident, which has been widely shared on social media, shows a group assaulting a person with sticks.
The police have inspected the scene and more personnel have been deployed at the scene to prevent any untoward incident. Senior officials said that further investigation is going on in this regard.
A few days ago, a boy from another community was killed in the same area. Later there was tension in the area.
But the police, who denied communal riots, said preliminary investigations indicated that the men who attacked Isar belonged to both communities.
A case has been registered, some accused have been identified and efforts are on to trace others. Officials said that they would also be arrested soon.
