New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has issued a strong statement condemning the ongoing violence in Gaza, calling it a “horrific genocide.” She emphasized that it is no longer enough to merely speak up for the civilians, including mothers, fathers, doctors, nurses, aid workers, journalists, teachers, writers, poets, senior citizens, and thousands of innocent children who are being killed daily.
Gandhi called upon all right-thinking individuals, including Israeli citizens who oppose hatred and violence, as well as every government worldwide, to condemn the Israeli government’s actions and demand an immediate halt to the violence. She highlighted that such actions are unacceptable in a world that claims to uphold civility and morality.
Criticizing the global response, she pointed out the irony of the Israeli Prime Minister receiving a standing ovation in the US Congress while his government carries out these actions. She accused him of accurately describing the situation as “a clash between barbarism and civilization,” but asserted that it is the Israeli government that is being barbaric, with the full support of much of the Western world.
“It’s truly a shame to watch,” she concluded.
