Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi was admitted to a hospital due to her ill health and she was not able to attend the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh which was set to take place on Friday.

Priyanka took to her X handle (formerly known as Twitter) and announced that she was ill and will join the yatra once she is better. “I was eagerly waiting for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to reach Uttar Pradesh, but due to illness I had to be admitted to the hospital today itself. I will join the journey as soon as I feel better. Till then, I wish all the yatri reaching Chandauli-Banaras, my colleagues and dear brother from Uttar Pradesh who are diligently preparing for the journey,” Priyanka Gandhi posted on her X handle.

Meanwhile, the yatra was supposed to enter the state of Uttar Pradesh through Varanasi on February 16 and then reach Amethi on February 19 via the route of Bhadohi, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

Rahul Gandhi will be addressing a public meeting at Gauriganj in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. The yatra will be reaching Raebareli the next day from where it will be headed to Lucknow where Gandhi and other participants are mostly likely to make a night stay.
