New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making a joke with reference to a suicide note. Priyanka said that the Prime Minister who cracked this joke and all who laughed heartily after hearing it should acquire some knowledge instead of looking at mental health issues insensitively.
Speaking at a programme organised by a media organisation,The Prime Minister said that when a professor read one of the suicide notes written by his daughter, he pointed out that despite all these years of hard work, her spelling was wrong.
The Prime Minister cracked this joke when he said that the editor of a particular channel spoke Hindi well.
Priyanka Gandhi tagged the video of the occasion and tweeted, “Depression and suicide, especially among the youth, are no laughing matter. According to NCRB data, 1,64,033 Indians committed suicide in 2021. Most of them are under 30 years of age. This is a tragedy, not a comedy”, she wrote.
Along with her tweet, Priyanka tagged Prime Minister Modi and ‘The Live Love Laugh Foundation,” which deals with mental health issues.
