Amritpal Singh, a seperatist leader of Waris Punjab De, was captured on Saturday close to Nakodar in Jalandhar, according to sources. Singh may or may not have been arrested, but Punjab Police has not yet verified or refuted this.
The separatist leader was targeted by Punjab Police earlier in the day, and sources say that the Union Home Ministry was in close contact with the Punjab administration about the situation.
In a number of Punjabi districts, mobile internet access has been curtailed; the restrictions will last until sunday.
