‘Successive governments have neglected NK region and not treated on par with SK’
BIJAPUR; 02 Jan: Extending support for the rally organized for demanding justice to North Karnataka region, several Seers have said that they would be joining Bengaluru rally to start from Jan 20, being organized by North Karnataka’s Progressive Karnataka Farmers’ Development Association.
Informing this at a press conference on Saturday, several seers including Sanganabasava Shivacharya Swamy, Kallinath Swamy, Siddalinga Swamy, Gurushantaveera Swamy, Abhinava Avadhuta Maharaj and Paramanand Maharaj extended support to Padyatra.
In his address, Sanganabasava Shivacharya swamy said that North Karnataka region has been neglected by the successive governments in different sectors such as education, industries, tourism, medical and agriculture.
“ Compared to South Karnataka, the developments in North Karnataka either are too slow and missing which is not acceptable as every part of the State deserves equal development standards”, he said.
Siddalinga Mahaswamy of Viraktamath said that many people of North Karnataka region are neglected by people of South Karnataka and they think people of NK region are inferior to them.
“With regard to irrigation projects, the NK region has not been given the importance like in case of South Karnataka. The irrigation project that started decades ago, have still remained incomplete here”, he remarked.
Referring to the ancient monuments of the district, he regretted that while even the smaller monuments of the South Karnataka region gets enormous publicity from the government, when it comes to NK region, even the bigger and enchanting monuments find no place in the public material. This deprives the local people from getting job opportunities in the tourism sector, the seer said.
He said that the rally which is being planned by Yasin Jawali, president of the Sangha, would turn the voice into a loud sound for the justice of NK region.
He said that the government should treat all the regions equally and provide all facilities equally because people in the past have fought for the unification of Karnataka irrespective of their regions. He urged people of different organizations who think NK needs justice, to join the movement.Attachments area
